An architect and author, Bill Smith has built some of the world’s most iconic buildings. His most notable project, CityCenter, is the largest privately funded development in U.S. history at $9 billion. Developed in 60 months during his time as President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM MIRAGE Design Group, CityCenter is home to the Aria Resort & Casino, the Vdara Hotel & Spa, Crystals Retail & Entertainment, the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, and Veer Towers on the Las Vegas Strip.
His passion for architecture and construction also led the development of Liberty Place in Philadelphia, Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi, and both the Bellagio Spa Tower and the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. His vision, innovation and leadership continue to transform the essence of leading U.S. cities.
Bill is an avid University lecturer, having served as a guest speaker at several Harvard Business School Workshops including Leading Complex Capital Projects, and other collegiate speaking engagements across the country. Harvard Business School created two business case studies during the development of CityCenter. His critically acclaimed book, Creating CityCenter, has been released internationally by W.W. Norton & Company.
A graduate of Temple University, Bill earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture and is a Registered Architect and Member of the American Institute of Architects.
Bill currently serves as the Managing Partner of Bainbridge Development Consulting, a full-service development advisory and management firm providing clients with strategic planning and management of design, development and construction for all types of real estate projects worldwide.
